Sales Engineer

  • Key member of the customer-facing sales team having primary responsibility for providing pre-sales technical support for all Thycotic products.
  • Interacts directly with employees at both technical and all levels of management on the client accounts including the executives (CTO, CIO, CISO etc.)
  • Identifies key customer requirements and presents Thycotic products and use cases that meet the applicable requirements
  • Flexibility in work schedule may be required to accommodate the customer and the needs of the business
  • Occasional attendance at conferences may be required
  • This position requires 30-35% travel within the United States
  • Reports to the Director or VP of Sales Engineering and Professional Services


  • Prepare for and deliver customized use case based demonstrations of Thycotic software
  • Ensure continuing client engagement during demonstrations and other technical sessions related to sales opportunities
  • Address technical blockers that are impeding the closing of opportunities
  • Focus on largest and highest potential opportunities first, and understand how to work with sales/account executives to prioritize these
  • Work with the Technical Support team to highlight any technical blockers that appear to be bugs or require Support assistance, and ensure that these cases are addressed in a timely fashion based on the opportunity close date
  • Represent Thycotic at trade shows and other industry events
  • Lead RFP/RFI and RFQ responses (RFX), engaging other company resources to help as needed, and ensuring that the RFX is completed on time
  • Provide technical and high level best practices consultation services for current and prospective clients
  • Identify and communicate upsell opportunities to Client Services


  • At least a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic or Computer Engineering, or similar area of specialty or comparable field experience, with an additional 2-4 years of experience in the field
  • A strong understanding of computer and network infrastructure
  • Great presentation and listening skills, and the ability to learn and improve these based on feedback from management and peers
  • Good at customizing demonstrations if needed for larger opportunities using out of the box thinking and creativity
  • A combination of stellar interpersonal and technical skills
  • A good understanding of solution sales methodologies and how the Sales Engineer fits into solution selling
  • Thrive in a team oriented environment; seek help when needed and lend a hand when needed
  • You are resourceful. You have that “I may not know, but I can consult my resources and learn” kind of mentality
